Review of : Wreck it Ralph

Once upon a time, in a very special support group, a new member was sharing his experiences in the pixel business. They have been years of playing the role of being the nemesis of Felix and his friends ... years of being angry about being stripped from his home where they built luxury apartment building ... years of trying to get back what was originally his, but the building's tenants have not made ​​it easy.

When Ralph climbs the building and tries to bring it down, tenants immediately call Felix Jr.,the repairman, who repairs all the damage that Ralph can cause with his magical hammer, so the only option left  to Ralph is to keep climbing destroying everything in his way. When Ralph is cornered on the roof, with nothing else to destroy, a golden medal suddenly appears in the sky, which is granted to Felix, along with a cake from tenants ... while Ralph is thrown from the roof to fall into a mud puddle.

Years of being the villain of this endless nightmare, how many exactly? ... well ... 30, 30 years ! ... but Ralph has had enough. Tired of living in the dump of this story, tired of always being alone, of not being appreciated ... in short: Sick of being  the villain of the arcade game "Fix it Felix Jr.". This causes a stir in BAD-Anon (Bad Guys Anonymous), where all the villains from "Litwak's Arcade"  gather around, the very same place where the Ralph's drama takes place.

Some of the most iconic villains in the video game history attend to BAD-Anon's reunions, starting with one of the ghosts of "Pac-Man" (by NAMCO), M. Bison from "Street Fighter II" (CAPCOM), Dr. Robotnik from "Sonic: The Hedgehog" (SEGA) and of course, no villain's meeting would be complete without Bowser from "Super Mario Bros." (NINTENDO) as well as many others ... and they are all in shock by the terrifying statement that Ralph has just made.

Most of the "old" members of the group try to reason with him, but Ralph did not seem too convinced by their arguments. Finally, before the meeting ends, the villains rise to recite the Group's Motto: "I'm Bad, and thats good, I'll never be good and thats not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me ", then they abandon the center of the Pac-Man's board, where the meeting was held , and everyone goes to their own game ... What will happen to Ralph? Will he finally accept the role given to him by "The Program"? or Will he become another "Turbo"? ... we will have to accompany him to seek those answers.

Wreck it Ralph is a film from Disney Animation Studios. When several months ago the trailer was unveiled, many thought it was the new PIXAR project, but it was not. Also, it was thought at first that this project would be one of the following two things: 1. - A great remix / showcase of videogames ie: "Fan Service". 2. - A new attempt to adapt a video game into a film. Fortunately it was not either of those, but something different and better.

As we have mentioned, the plot of this movie centers around Ralph, the villain of a originally fictional video game (Fix it Felix Jr.), which is now as "side product" of the film. As mentioned, and contrary to what was originally thought, Ralph only travels through two videogames on his adventure: "Hero's Duty" (FPS) and "Sugar Rush" (Kart Racing), certainly this could have disappointed more than one movie goer or gamer, or any combination of both, but that is due there is indeed a compelling and well told story beneath it's videogame cover.

Ralph has been excluded from the 30th anniversary celebration for his game. After arguing with your fellow players, who despise him unceremoniously, he decides to show them that he is able to get a medal, just as Felix does, which will prove what he is capable of, and eventually could lead to him being accepted among them, nothing is more important to Ralph than that. With this in mind, Ralph visits first "Hero's Duty", where he "earns" his medal, then, quite by accident, he ends up in "Sugar Rush" where he meets Vanellope who is the catalyst for the plot, she will teach Ralph what is to be a hero.

For those gamers who expected to find all those delicious references to elements of classic video games, arcade or console, as well as so called "cameos" of characters, in fact there are many of those elements, some more obscure and difficult to identify than others. But the real strength and quality of this film is the journey that Ralph willingly gets in, in search of the recognition that both longs, and Felix's involuntary journey, in search of Ralph, to save his videogame of being unplugged

Some of our team members were able to attend the cinema to enjoy this story, and they agree that it is a nice tribute to video games, and also an entertaining story in its own right. From the hand of director Rich Moore (who has directed episodes of The Simpsons, Futurama, The Critic and some more), having John Lasseter as executive producer, this movie has much more a PIXAR feeling, than "Brave" could ever hope to achieve.

Aside of that little detail, this is a very good product that combines two of the things that This Project is looking forward to do in the near future: Animation and Video Games. It is noteworthy the viral advertising that Disney managed to create, to the point of even convincing certain groups of people that the videogame "Felix Fix it" really existed back in the 80's. Obviously there is already a video game adaptation of "Wreck it Ralph" for various consoles. And in fact, Disney has created an "On Line" version of "Fix it Felix Jr." that can be enjoyed on their website.

So, after our third anniversary, we present our first review.
